As you may already know, I am a big fan of these electric wall-mount fireplaces because they make having a warm, cozy hearth easy and affordable. Plus you can install them in more places where you want more ambiance – or heat.
I personally use my electric fireplace all the time because I love watching the flickering flames. These units also provide great supplemental heat (up to 400 square feet).
However, many times I don’t turn the heat on because I use my home heating system. This way, I can enjoy my fireplace all day long and pay pennies per hour to run the LED flame lamp.

What I Don’t Like About Electric Fireplaces:
LED fireplaces don’t offer the smoky smell or cracking sounds that a natural wood-burning fire can. (That said, the new PuraFlame Kraus DOES include fire crackling sounds.)
Alternatively, you can get a $30 wood smoke scented candle that has a crackling wick. It smells and sounds like a real wood burning fire, yet it doesn’t produce all of the mess.
Even though electric fireplaces look cool and have convenient features, you’ll always know that the fire is not “the real thing”. And, when you turn in the heat, the unit blows out warm air, making the sound you’d hear from a heating vent.
3 Ways to Install this Electric Wall Fireplace:
This elegant fireplace has a wide, modern design, but it actually can be really simple to install. Plus, you have a few different installation options.
1. Recess the Fireplace into the Wall:
First of all, you can recess the unit into a wall. Cut a hole in the wall and hardwire the fireplace; the surrounding frame provides a clean finish without your handiwork needing to be perfect.
In addition, the slim design (under 4″) allows you to put the fireplace in 4-inch wall or an area that doesn’t have much depth.
2. Build a Fireplace Mantel Surround:
Second, you can build a framework on your wall that protrudes out and can hold your fireplace. Hence, the unit appears built-in, but you don’t have to cut a hole in your wall.
Plus, you may be able to plug your fireplace into an electrical outlet hidden behind the framework. See an example of this below. You can even add side bookshelves for storage.
3. Hang the Fireplace on the Wall:
Third, you can simply hang your electric fireplace on the wall. And if it sits near or over a wall outlet, you can just plug it in without having to worry about any complicated wiring.
The slim design also comes in handy here, since it won’t hang too far out from the wall like other 6″ models can.
